Pulsed electronic loads powered from high-voltage energy storage capacitors present power conversion designers with several challenges, including controlled charging of large capacitive loads, maintaining precise peak voltage, and providing low-level control interfaces immune to high system noise levels. In addition, the power converter is often called upon to buffer the available power source (commercial ac, station batteries, etc.) from being modulated by the pulsed load.
